Behaviour Consultation

There are a range of situations where it may be beneficial to see your vet if you are worried about your pet’s behaviour.

We can help with:

  • Fearful conditions such as panic attacks, separation distress and noise and thunderstorm phobias.

  • Dogs and cats who behave aggressively towards people or other animals

  • Spraying or inappropriate urination

  • Obsessive compulsive conditions

  • Hyperactivity syndromes

What can you expect in a behaviour consult?

Dr Lizzie has Membership in behaviour, her initial behaviour consult is for 80 minutes and includes:

  • Full history to understand what situations and triggers may be affecting or impacting your pet

  • A discussion on dog and cat psychology so we can understand their brain function and why they behave in certain ways.

  • Behaviour treatment plan which may consist of

    • Behaviour modification

    • Behaviour management

    • Medication if indicated

    • Other treatment and training options that may be beneficial for your pet.

Just like in people, there are often a range of reasons why our pets may react in certain ways. If you have any further questions or would like to book a behaviour consult please contact the clinic.
